No idea, but the evidence at hand suggests that he is some kind of amphibious reptile. What species isn't really relevant at this point.

A crocodile has a thinner and more elongated snout, and they are generally a slightly paler and muddier shade of green.
I'm sure there are other differences, but I don't remember them offhand.
