The Guns of The Dark Knight

Thread name is self explanatory. I will explore the guns, vehicles, and various cutlery of the latest Batman blockbuster, the Dark Knight.

Part 1: Robbery Gone Stranger





Weapon Number 1: WZ.83 Pallad D
“Happy” starts off the robbery by firing a zipline from a WZ.83 grenade launcher onto the bank rooftop. He also uses it to shoot out the window.






The Pallad D is the standalone version of the WZ.74, an underslung grenade launcher developed for the AKM rifle. This standalone version features an AK style grip and a folding stock.
Vehicle Number 1: 80s Era Chevy
The Bank Robbers’ vehicle is a black 80’s era Chevy SUV. I don’t know the exact model, but I think it’s a Trailblazer.



Weapon Number 2: Modified Glock 17
The Joker’s weapon of choice is Glock 17 with a nickel plated slide and 33 round mag that has been modified to fire full auto. This is NOT a Glock 18, as there is no selector switch on the slide.







The Joker clearly knows his way around this weapon, as he chambers the round by locking the slide back and then releasing it. The modified Glock is a good choice for the Joker, as it is stylish and impractical, but deadly. Like him.

Weapon Number 3: Ingram Mac 10
“Chuckles” uses a Mac 10 as his weapon.



We first see him loading it in the car and then again to intimidate the bank patrons. He uses it with the stock extended.



Weapon Number 4: Glock 17
“Grumpy” uses a Glock 17 during the Bank Robbery.



Unlike the Joker’s, it is unmodified. He uses it to intimidate patrons as The Joker passes around grenades.

Weapon Number 5: Beretta M92
Happy uses a silenced Beretta to kill “Dopey.”





Weapon Number 6: M67 Frag Grenades





We see the Joker passing around M67 grenades to intimidate the hostages. We also get another good shot of his Glock here.

Weapon Number 7: Unknown Revolver (Smith and Wesson?)



Chuckles is using an unknown revolver with his Mac 10 to keep the security guard down. We only see it for a few seconds, but to me it looks like an S&W.

Weapon Number 8: Sawed Off Remington 870



The Bank Manager keeps a sawed off Remington in his office, which is illegal unless he’s paying his class 3 permit. But then again, it is a mob bank, so who’s counting?



“Do you have any idea who ya stealin from? You and ya friends are dead!”
The Bank manager does manage to tag Grumpy with his unexpected 6th shot. We get a good view of his Glock here.



“Where did you learn to count?!”

We also get another good view of the Joker’s Glock as he uses it to shoot the manager.



Meanwhile, Grumpy uses his Glock to kill Happy in the vault. One less share.



Back in the lobby, Grumpy holds his gun on the Joker, thinking that the Joker will kill him as soon as he loads the cash.



“No no no no, I kill the bus driver.”

Vehicle Number 2: School Bus
The Bus Driver backs into the lobby, killing grumpy in the process. He loads the money and is promptly shot by the Joker.



A successful robbery under his belt, the Joker is about to make his getaway when the bank manager yells “Think yer smart huh? Well the guy that hired you will just do the same to you. Criminals in this town used to believe in things. Honor. Respect. Whadda you believe in, huh? WHADDA YOU BELIVE IN?!”

Weapon Number 9: Smoke Grenade



The Joker stuffs a smoke grenade into the guy’s mouth to shut him up.

“I believe whatever doesn’t kill you simply makes you….”



“Stranger.”
The Joker makes his getaway and the smoke grenade goes off in the man’s mouth.

Part 2: Buyer Beware

We now go to a meeting between The Scarecrow and The
Chechen…

Vehicle Number 1: Ford Explorer



The Chechen and his men use two new model Ford Explorers as their vehicles.

“Das why ve bring dogs.”



The Scarecrow and his men make their appearance, and we can see several weapons here.

Weapon 1, 2, 3: IMI Mini Uzi, S&W M76, Unknown Revolver



The Scarecrow’s men are using, from left to right, a Mini Uzi, a S&W M76, and the man standing behind the door is holding an unknown nickel plated revolver. The revolver is too out of focus to be clearly identified.

“I said my compound would take you places! I never said they’d be places you wanted to go.”

At that moment, the Chechen’s dogs go crazy, announcing the presence of…Batman?



“My dogs are HONGRAY!”

Weapon Number 4: Remingtion 870



One of the imposter Batman then opens up on the thugs with a Remington 870 shotgun.



“That’s not him.”

Chaos erupts as the imposter Batmen open up from all sides.

Weapon Number 5: IMI Mini Uzi



One is using a Mini Uzi here.

Weapon Number 6: SIG P226





The Chechen and his men all use SIG P226 handguns. It seems to be their standard sidearm.

“Loose the dogs!”

Weapon Number 6: Beretta Inox



One of the imposters attempts to hold The Scarecrow at gunpoint with his Beretta Inox. Unfortunately, all he gets for his efforts is a face full of fear toxin.



Vehicle Number 2: The Tumbler “Batmobile”



The real Batman finally makes his appearance, bashing into the parking garage with the Tumbler. He is controlling it by remote control.

Weapon Number 7: Skorpion SA Vz. 61



The thugs spray the tumbler with gunfire. We can see one using a Czech made Skorpion, holding it by the mag like an amateur.

Weapon Number 8: AKMSU



We can also see one of the thugs using an AKMSU. The SIG and Skorpion also make an appearance.
After their ammo runs dry, Batman fights back, launching a missile at the thugs.



Weapon Number 9: Ruger Mini 14



One of the imposter Batmen attempts to advance with his Ruger Mini 14, but the real Batman shows up and bends the barrel with his super strength gadget.



Batman then uses his custom grapple gun to pull one of the Batmen away from the Chechen’s dogs.

Vehicle Number 3: Chevy Utility Van



The Scarecrow attempts to make his getaway in a Chevy Utility Van, but Batman grabs onto the side. He uses his super strength hand grips to attempt to get into the van, but he falls off.



However, as the Scarecrow drives down the ramp, Batman tries one final trick…



He jumps off the edge and onto the van.



The Scarecrow in the can, Batman heads back to his new “Batcave.”



“What gives you the right? Whatsa difference between you and me?”



“I’m not wearing hockey pads!”

Part 3: The White Knight



We follow Batman back to his new Batcave, a belowground lair located beneath a cargo container located in one of Wayne Enterprise’s shipping yards.

Vehicle 1: The Tumbler



We get another view of The Tumbler here, aka The Batmobile. In batman begins, it was explained that the Tumbler was built to make improvised bridges during combat, using the boosters to fly into a rampless jumps while towing the bridge cables behind them. They were never used in combat, but they work fine. Bruce has made some…modifications to his, of course.
Now we meet Gotham City’s new DA, Harvey Dent.



Arriving late to the trial of the new boss of the Mafia in Gotham, Harvey flips his father’s lucky coin to see whether he or his girlfriend, Rachel Dawes, will lead.
“Heads I’ll take it, tails it’s all yours.”
“You’d really leave something like that to chance?”



“No. I make my own luck.”


Midway through the trial of Sal Maroni, Dent’s key witness, Albert Rossi, pulls a gun on Dent.

Weapon 1: Mocked Up Glock 26



This gun is a Glock 26, mocked up by the prop department to make it look like a different gun. The back plate has been covered up and the sights removed, to further hide it’s origins. Dent promptly punches Rossi in the face after the gun misfires.

Weapon 2: Beretta 92FS



As Dent unloads the pistol, we can see a police officer with a Beretta 92FS in his holster. Dent then informs us that the gun is “Carbon fiber, 28 caliber, made in China.”



This is just movie talk and not pertaining to the actual gun.



“You wanna kill a public servant Mr. Maroni, I recommend you buy American.”

Part 4: And I Thought My Jokes Were Bad.
Now we go to a Mob Meeting, somewhere in Gotham…





Mr. Lao tells the mob that the cops are going to seize all their funds today. Luckily, Lao has already gotten the cash out. We see several weapons in the hands of the police here as they go to raid the banks:

Weapon 1: MP5



The SWAT teams all use MP5s. Pretty standard.

Weapon 2: Smith and Wesson 5904



Lieutenant Gordon uses a Smith and Wesson 5904 9mm as his sidearm.

We cut back to the meeting. At that moment, the sound of laughter fills the room….





Weapon Number 3: Pencil



“Gimme one reason why I shouldn’t have my boy here pull ya head off.”



“How about a magic trick? I’m gonna make this pencil disappear.”

*SMASH*

“TA DAA! It’s…It’s goonee.”



Gambol is now thoroughly pissed, and lunges at the Joker.

Weapon 4: The Joker’s Grenades



"Let's not blow things outta proportion..."

Among the grenades I can spot an M67, and an M2.

The Joker then takes his leave….

Part 5: Why So Serious?



“Yo Gambol, somebody here for you. They say they’ve just killed the Joker.”





“So, dead, that’s five hundred.”

Weapon 1: Joker’s Knife



“How bout alive, hmm?”

We now see the Joker’s men bust out their weapons and take Gambol’s men by surprise. The Joker himself pulls a knife and sticks the blade in Gambol’s mouth. The details of the knife can be found here.

Weapon 2 and 3: Jericho 941 and Glock



The Joker’s henchys use a Jericho 941, aka Baby Eagle, and an unidentified Glock, probably 17, to keep down the Gambol’s Men.

Weapon 4: Beretta Inox





Another thug uses an Inox to hold Gambol’s man.



After killing Gambol, we see

Weapon Number 6: The Pool Cue



“we’re gonna have…tryouts.”

Weapon Number 7: Handgun?



“Make it fast.”

We also see the man on the left holding a handgun I’m not sure of. Any help on the ID here?

Part 6: Halfway to Hong Kong



Batman is now in Hong Kong, as the Joker predicted, to get Lao back to Gotham.

Weapon 1: Sticky Bomb Gun



We see batman using a custom made, pump action gun that launches bombs to the adjacent roof. It can fold up onto Batman’s belt.

Weapon 2: Sticky Bomb



The gun fires adjustable time bombs, presumably comprised of a moldable type of explosive material and a detonator.

After setting his bombs, a jammer device left by Lucius Fox shuts down the power in Lao’s office buildings with a jammer device.

We see Lao’s men now, getting their guns.

Weapon 3: Various Glocks



Lao’s men use Glocks, probably 17s.

Weapon 4: Walther P99



Lao himself uses a Walther P99, which he keeps in his desk.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong PD have arrived.

Weapon 5: MP5



The police use MP5s with flashlights on them. I will talk about the detective’s gun later.

Back in the office, Batman has made his arrival, smashing a thug through a glass wall.



We see his Glock clearly now. Lao’s men open fire, and we can also clearly see their guns here.



Then Batman grabs an MP5 from one of Lao’s men and uses it to knock over the boss man himself, dragging him to the window.



Weapon 6: Smith and Wesson Model 10



The Detective is using a Smith and Wesson Model 10 .38 Special, which he points at Batman as he waits by the window for his ride.



His bombs explode, blowing out the windows so he can use Skyhook. Lao’s face is priceless.
Batman is then whisked back to Gotham by plane.

Part 7: We Are Tonight’s Entertainment
Bruce is throwing a fundraising party for Harvey Dent, but in the meantime, the Joker has promised to kill people until batman reveals his identity. His first targets are Commissioner Loeb, Judge Cirillo, and Dent. Gordon seals off the police station to protect Loeb. We also see our first weapon.

Weapon 1: Remington 870



The Rem 870 police magnum riot version, and also seems to be standard issue for the GCPD.

Meanwhile, Loeb gets out his booze to weather the lockdown.



At the fundraiser, Wayne is aware of the Joker’s threat, so he gets Harvey in a headlock and locks him in a closet, to the dismay of Rachel Dawes.



Across town, the Joker takes down his first target, as Judge Cirillo gets her directions.





The Joker then takes down Loeb with whiskey laced with acid.



And finally, The Joker and his goons crash the party.

Weapons 2,3, and 4: Shotguns and Glock



We see the Joker using the sawed off Remington he acquired from the Bank manager. Another goon is also using some type of shotgun, and the guy on the right is using a Glock. Notice how only one guy is wearing an actual clown mask.



“Good evening ladies and gentlemen! We are tonight’s entertainment!”

Weapon 5: Beretta PM12S



This goon is waving his Beretta PM12S at the socialites. I love their faces.

Weapon 6: Double Barrelled Shotgun



Somewhere in the penthouse, bruce takes down a goon using a shotgun and dissasembles the weapon. The shotgun was probably chosen due to it’s ease to dissasemble, thus making Bruce look tacticool.

Weapon 7: The Joker’s Knife



Back in the foyer, the Joker uses his knife to threaten this guy, who is actually Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy. The guy is a huge Batman fan, and one of my cousins works for him.
The Joker then moves on to Rachel.



After Batman starts whaling on everyone, we see the Joker pop out a boot knife. Reminds me of From Russia with love.

Weapon 8: Smith and Wesson Model 19 Snub



The Joker pulls a Model 19 Snub and holds it to Rachel, shooting out the window and dangling her outside.



He drops her, and of course Batman launches himself outside to save her.



“Let’s not do that again.”
